Who’s Watching Your Wallet?
You would think that celebrities wouldn’t have nearly as difficult a time with identity theft that the rest of us have. I mean, most people would know you were not Brad Pitt just by looking at you, but then again, what about electronic transactions?
When a transaction comes through with the name Paris Hilton, does anyone check to make sure that the beautiful Ms. Hilton actually purchased that spike collar for her dog? Does anyone check when George Clooney purchases 100 shares of Apple on a bright crisp Friday morning? I doubt it.
Identity theft is a big problem for celebrities and non-celebrities alike and life lock can help prevent it from happening. For a low monthly rate (that even us non-celebrities can afford) they will place free fraud alerts with all of the credit bureaus, they will remove your name from those annoying pre-approved lists, they help shut down potential identity threats, and much, much, more.
Of course, you could do most, if not all of this, by yourself, but where would you find the time when you are busy keeping tabs on your favorite celebrity or snapping photos while they purchase that fancy spike collar for their dog?

I really enjoyed this past season of The Biggest Loser, and Ali was one of my favorites. What I loved most about her transformation was her attitude change. Congratulations Ali, you look damn good!

Friday Surprise: Ashley Alexandra Dupre

I’m not sure she was worth the price Eliot Spitzer was paying, but she’s definitely a looker. You would have to invest a lot of money in penny stocks to make enough to even call her, let alone set up a meeting like Gov. Spitzer did. My goodness. I do know one thing though, pretty or not, I think I would have spent my money elsewhere.
An Update Called Life
This has been the strangest year so far.
It all started in January, of course, and things looked bright for the beginning of the year. I was optimistic that this year would be a great year. Then the second week of January hit.
We found out that my mother in law was going to need surgery, and at her age it was not going to be a simple surgery to say the least.
Then we found out that Flash has bone cancer and he will not be with us much longer. That alone has been enough to take the wind out of my sail. In fact, as his time here on Earth comes to an end, my heart is going to break.
The last time my heart was broken was when I moved from Nevada to South Dakota back in the 90’s. At the time I had a cat, her name was Abby. She was a six-toed tabby cat that I loved with all my heart. When she was born, her mother and all of her brothers and sisters died from an infection. A lady I work with asked if I was interested in fostering the kitten til they could get someone to adopt her. Of course, I agreed. I spent the afternoon picking out food bowls, cat toys, kitten formula and what not.
I spent weeks bottle feeding her, teaching her to eat out of a bowl, and how to use the litterbox (that was interesting). She taught me about unconditional love. She greeted me at the door each evening, and was there to wake me up each morning. She was an awesome cat, but when I moved I had to leave her with friends because I could not take her with me. Granted she didn’t die, but I never saw her again.
I keep remembering the little things in life, and I realize that this is going to be one of the strangest years.

Today was a very emotional day.
It all started at 6:30 when the alarm went off and I quickly woke up the entire family. There was never any doubt that we would all go together to take Flash to this very important appointment today.
We arrived about 20 minutes early, which was amazing seeing how the Atlanta traffic was. After completing the new patient registration form, they took us all into a small 10×15 room. I have to admire the kids for sitting there, listening to things they could not understand, keeping quiet so we could comprehend what the veterinarian was telling us.

Flash’s prognosis is not good. The deterioration in the bone is so bad that he is now at the point that just walking could cause hairline fractures and more pain. The veterinarian explained everything to us, he covered all the options. I am so glad he did.
The first thing Flash needs is an immediate amputation of his right front leg. They will have to take the shoulder and the shoulder blade too. His recovery from the amputation will be rather quick, but he will never recover from the cancer.
The veterinarian explained that there is no doubt the cancer has spread and Flash has at best 6 months to 1 year left with us. He discussed the options for chemotherapy, but even with the treatment that shows the best results, the most Flash gains is an additional 6 months to 1 year.
We will never know what Flash is thinking, or what he wants. I do know that if it were me, I would choose the quality of life over the quantity. It just seems more logical to me to allow him to live as a happy 3 legged dog for 6 months to a year, rather than have him laying around listless, drooling, in a heap of fur on the floor, too sick to notice whether or not we were even in the room.
So for now, we are planning on the amputation. He has pain pills to get him through til we can get that done in the next week or so, and after that is done, we will take it from there.
Pray For Flash
Our dog Flash has been limping for the last week or two, so we took him to the vet today. It turns out he has cancer. We have another appointment on Tuesday to find out how bad it is, and what we can do for him.
I know to many of you he is just a dog, but he’s a part of our family and I would appreciate some prayers if you’re so inclined.

From Dotspotter:
Does it surprise anyone that Reese Witherspoon is the best liked celebrity? She’s cute, she comports herself well in public, she dresses (really) well, and she has adorable kids. The only thing we can think to fault her for is that she snagged Jake Gyllenhaal (although we’ll admit that that could be a teensy bit of jealousy talking). Who else made the cut?
Head on over to Dotspotter to find out. You may be surprised.

When my mom moved in with us until her senior living apartment was available, I got an added bonus. She changed her address (of course) and we were receiving her People magazine for a while. It was cool reading more the stories more in-depth, but I still prefer the online version more.
No, this does not mean I want my own subscription, cuz I can always read mom’s when she is done with it.

In that last post, I forgot to mention something. and since I never “edit” posts unless they are really newsworthy, I thought I would say thanks to the woman who sent me the link to the website selling Miracle burn.
I appreciate the thought, but I am still convinced that I will do better on a “non-diet pill controlled” diet plan. In the long run I think it’s healthier too. But, again, thanks for the link.
