When I lived in Las Vegas, I spent a lot of time volunteering for a few different organizations. Whether I was working at a disaster shelter for the Red Cross handing out care packages, or at a telethon for charity, I always gave it my all.
I actually saw Merv Griffin once at a charity golf function where I was helping to round up enough golf balls for the participants to utilize. He was a man of great stature and held the respect of everyone around him. The world has lost a great humanitarian and an awesome human being.
Keep Merv Griffin in your prayers this week.
Merv Griffin has been hospitalized for a recurrence of prostate cancer, a spokeswoman said Wednesday. He was being treated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for cancer discovered during a routine examination a few weeks ago, said Marcia Newberger, spokeswoman for The Griffin Group/Merv Griffin Entertainment.
“I’d rather play Jeopardy! than live it,” the 82-year-old game show impresario and former talk show host said in a statement. “I was ready for a vacation; however, this wasn’t the destination I had in mind.”
Here’s a clip of Merv, just because I can.
