Is there anything Carrie Underwood can’t do? Seriously. Her first album, Some Hearts, was released in November of 2005, and it is still the best-selling country album of 2007 so far.

Carrie Underwood doesn’t want to spend her life jaded, waitin’-or just resting on her laurels.

Arista Records and 19 Recordings announced Monday that the follow-up to the country crossover star’s mega-hit debut Some Hearts has been slated for an Oct. 23 release.

The 24-year-old Oklahoman’s as-yet untitled sophomore effort is being produced by Some Hearts collaborator Mark Bright and will feature some more songwriting by Underwood, who co-penned the tune “I Ain’t in Checotah Anymore” on Some Hearts.

If Carrie’s next album is half as good as the first, we are sure to hear (and see) much more of Miss Underwood in the future.

She’s hot. I better check my policy with Globe Life before I even think of purchasing that album.

Doesn’t everyone love Carrie Underwood?

“American Idol” Carrie Underwood is the latest celebrity to appear on a poster for the Oklahoma Library Association’s “Read Y’all” literacy campaign.

Posters featuring the country singer from Checotah will be distributed free to every academic, public, school and special library in the state, said Buffy Edwards, poster coordinator for the campaign.

“I think Carrie Underwood just represents Oklahoma in such a positive manner,” Edwards said. “She’s grounded in her upbringing. She’s proud of her state. She appeals to a very wide age range.

“I think America fell in love with Carrie Underwood on ‘American Idol,’ and we’re very lucky she’s from our state.”

Carrie Underwood is a positive role model for young people, and she’s great eye candy for the rest of us. Aren’t we all lucky?
