I am a great believer in “mind over matter”. I try to remain positive most of the time, and although I like to bitch and moan about some things in life, my outlook on life is basically, “I will have a great day because I will make it that way”.

Recently, I had the opportunity to receive a copy of the “Getting Started Series” from Clay Nelson Life Balance. The Getting Started Series is a set of 3 great self-help, motivational, life planning CD’s. Clay Nelson is a wonderful motivational speaker, life coach, and workshop leader. He founded his company to teach what he has learned to others. In addition to the life planning cd’s he also has his own radio show and he offers tele-seminars on a regular basis.

When I first started listening to the set, I was thinking to myself, “Oh no, not another motivational speaker that’s going to tell me everything I am doing wrong”. Imagine my surprise when that didn’t happen. Clay Nelson focuses on what you can do, the goals you can reach, and helping you learn how to make them attainable.

The first cd, Creating Your Purpose, was awesome. Clay Nelson spends time explaining how to develop your own purpose statement and how to unlock the potential inside you. Keeping

As great as I thought the first disc was, the second cd, How to Let Fear Serve You, was even better. I realized about halfway through that I was allowing fear dictate many areas of my life, and I need to change that, starting now.

The third cd, Commitment, was another eye opener. It seems I have been happy with the way things are for far too long, and havent been allowing myself to enjoy some aspects of life and grow.

I highly recommend the Clay Nelson Life Balance Getting Started Series for anyone who wants to get their life back and decide how their life turns out. As Clay says, “You are the only person who has a say in how your life turns out. What do you choose?”

Will Britney’s drama ever end?

Britney Spears has been ordered to undergo random drug and alcohol testing twice a week, according to court documents in her custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The order was issued Monday by a judge who required both parents to refrain from drinking and using drugs around their two young children and 12 hours before either cares for them.

Only Spears was ordered to submit to testing.

That doesn’t seem fair does it? How can authorities check to make sure neither one of them have been drinking or using drugs if they aren’t testing both of them? And shouldn’t he have ordered them not to use alcohol, since drug use is illegal anyway? Duh. I think they should both, at the very least, be subject to a 360 degree evaluation. I’m sure neither one of them are perfect, that’s for sure.

Here are a couple of images of Britney, before and after…

Does that girl need some Miracle burn or what?

I am sure you have noticed some of the links appearing in some of the posts here on TinselTown Trash. One of the companies I post reviews for is Smorty.

Smorty is a blog for money program that allows me to get paid for blogging about the things I would be blogging about anyway, by simply placing a link back to a sponsor site within my posts.

When I first started blogging, over ten years ago, I never thought I would make money by simply writing about the things that interest me. I have run a few ads in the sidebar from time to time and never seem to make any money from them at all. The links within the posts however have made enough money to buy myself a new digital camera, and a new 22 inch monitor for my computer. I won’t make a million dollars doing it, but if I can make a few bucks here and there to help make life more comfortable, I’m all for it.

The link above is just such a link. It’s hardly intrusive in any way. By joining Smorty I was able to reduce the number of ads in the sidebars (since they weren’t making any money anyway) and still make a small income from blog advertising.

Smorty connects advertisers with bloggers and allows bloggers like me to keep doing what they have always been doing.

Actress and comedian Brett Somers, who amused game show fans with her quips on the “Match Game” in the 1970s, has died, her son said. She was 83.

Somers died Saturday at her home in Westport of stomach and colon cancer, Adam Klugman said Monday.

Hosted by Gene Rayburn, “Match Game” was the top game show during much of the 1970s. Contestants would try to match answers to nonsense questions with a panel of celebrities; much of the humor came from the racy quips and putdowns.

Somers married actor Jack Klugman, the future star of the television shows “Quincy” and “The Odd Couple,” in 1953. The two separated in 1974, but never divorced.

They made many television appearances as a couple. Somers appeared on several episodes of “The Odd Couple,” playing the ex-wife of Klugman’s character.

In addition to Adam Klugman, Somers is survived by another son, David, and a daughter, Leslie.

Rest In Peace, Brett.

Did you see this?

Barbra Streisand’s husband, James Brolin, went on a radio show in New Haven Tuesday to promote his movie, “The Hunting Party”. When hosts Chaz and AJ noted that it was the sixth anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center, James said, “Right, oh, yeah, Happy 9/11!”

Does anyone really listen to anything James Brolin says anymore? I bet two-thirds of you don’t even know what he looks like and have never seen him on television or in movies.

And you thought politics wasn’t contagious.

Our nephew shipped to Iraq last weekend, and we’ve been thinking of taking a quick trip down to visit his parents for a few days. As parents, they can’t help but worry about their son, and we’re thinking that they might need a small diversion for a couple of days. I’m looking at a Orlando vacation home rental right now, and seeing if I can book it. Wish me luck.

Sorry it’s been slow around here, have had a lot of work to do and well, now I’ve done it. Because of the extra work, I had some extra bucks, and one thing leads to another.

In an effort to update some of the equipment I have around here, I bought a new monitor, a new digital camera, and a new battery backup box for my computer. At least I’m ready to snap pictures if anything ever happens in my neck of the woods.

Oh yeah, and the wife is wondering why my purchases didn’t include any jewelry. Hmm. It seems to have slipped my mind.

I’ll post some pics later tonight or tomorrow from the new cam.
