I keep forgetting to watch America’s Got Talent. I mean too, I really do, but for some reason I have this mental block about setting the DVR.
I was checking out their website as well as the Springfield, Missouri News-Leader and found out that two of the top 20 finalists are from the Branson area.
Among the performers chosen Wednesday night to be the top 20 finalists on “America’s Got Talent” are two performers with ties to Branson.
The Dutton Family — parents Dean and Sheila and their six grown children — have been performing in Branson for 10 years and now own their own theater and a hotel. It’s a family effort — including Judith, Tim’s wife — on keyboards. The Duttons have appeared on other television shows and were the subject of a PBS documentary. An MSNBC commentary gave the Duttons 25-to-1 odds to win the $1 million grand prize following the final competition in Las Vegas.
Also chosen as a finalist was Gregory Popovich with his trained cats and dogs. Popovich, a former star of the Moscow Circus, came to Branson in 2001 and opened the Comedy Pet Theatre at what was then the Majestic Theatre. He performed in Branson until last spring, most recently at the Grand Country Music Hall, before leaving to perform in Las Vegas, said Grand Country Square owner Glenn Robinson. MSNBC odds for Popovich: 60-to-1.
You can learn more about the Dutton Family at their website. Meanwhile, I am going to go set the timer on the dvr right now.
